A photo of Sam Thompson who owns Sam Thompson Photography

Sam first picked up a camera at 8 years old and purchased his first SLR ( an Olympus OM1n) in 1978.

Shooting at first in colour he soon found the attraction of B&W film using Ilford FP4 and HP5, developing and printing this in a darkroom at home. This is where his love of monochrome photography was born.

From 1986 to 2008 Sam worked as a cameraman for BBC Northern Ireland on a variety of programmes; music, comedy, sport, current affairs and, of course, news.

Today Sam is particularly known for his black and white work and actively promotes it on his social media and exhibitions in Guernsey. You will often see him walking around the streets of St Peter Port with his two mini schnauzers and a camera bag.

If you are interested in booking him for any type of portrait  or for a wedding, just get in touch and he'll be pleased to meet up for a chat over a cup of coffee.
